Over millions of years the rain, wind, and fire have carved rich textures into the coloured sandstone of the Gorge. A multitude of caves have offered sanctuary to all who visit Cania for thousands of years. Researchers have determined Indigenous habitation at Cania began before the last Ice Age. The flora, fauna, and aboriginal freehand paintings attracts visitors from all over the world and they smile to themselves knowing they have shared a little known secret.

Lake Cania is only a short drive from the retreat and opens the door to sailing, fishing and canoeing and many other services provided by local operators. Fishing there is quite enjoyable and relaxing due to the postcard surroundings of sheer sandstone escarpments, cliff faces and the abundant wildlife like wallabies that won’t get out of the way near the boat ramp.
